Link Requests
Search
engines haven't had many options outside of trusting webmasters
in accurately portraying their web site content via META tags and
text. But not all webmasters have been completely honest in describing
their sites using these tools.
In order to increase a web site's relevance to users' searches,
search engine programmers have developed algorithms that provide
higher relevance to your web site through unbiased, third party
criteria.
Alta Vista is the first major search engine to employ this practice
in their ranking algorithms. Though the actual algorithms are closely
guarded secrets, "link analysis" appears to have great
weight in the search
engine's determination of site relevance.
So what is meant by link analysis and how does it affect your web
site's ranking? Link analysis is the evaluation of which sites link
to yours, what types of sites link to those sites, the density of
the links, and what terms are highly relevant to these sites.
Link density refers to how many sites link to your site. The higher
the number of relevant links from other sites to yours, the higher
your overall ranking. Link popularity can be defined as using third-level
linking to determine a site's topic relevance. The search engine
looks at which sites link to the sites that link to you. For link
popularity, the quality of the links is the most important factor,
not the quantity.
Sites pertaining to a particular subject have a higher density
of cross-links to other sites that are relevant to the same subject.
High-density cross-linking indicates a topic "cluster."
Sites in such clusters are assumed to be highly
relevant to the clusters' topics and earn a higher relevancy ranking
for that topic.
TallTech recognizes both the importance of cross-links as well
as the amount of time and resources this process can take up. As
an added value to our clients, we conduct this process for you based
on suggestions made and the final criteria you provide. Results
are then forwarded to you as well as the appropriate cross-linking
details, graphics and technical requirements.
