On Friday, Max the Jack Russell, saved the lives of the Rowan family of Port Coquitlam, when he alerted them in the middle of the night after a fire started in their home.  Apparently, the batteries in their smoke detector were dead and it was only the persistence barking of Max that woke the family up to the dangerous smoke filling the house.  Fortunately, no one was seriously injured but the house was completely destroyed.  Click here to get the full story.

There is good reason for poodles to have such crazy haircuts.  Poodles are actually hunters and they need to have their hair shaved so they are not weighted down by it when they are swimming after their prey.  The puffy hair that the groomers leave on their heads, and around their knees, ankles and torso, is left there to keep their joints and internal organs warm.
