Bandai is an enormous firm with a huge share of the Japanese toy market. Plastic models, however, are a tiny fraction of the company's overall sales, which totaled some 105.4 billion yen in 1995 (roughly 925 million US). Nevertheless, their product selection, focused on Gundam items, is deep and they are actively turning out new kits. The recent focus of attention has been on their extremely high-quality series of MS Grade. These are highly-detailed, fully-pose able, snap-together kits that don't require painting (being molded in color, with stickers provided as necessary for markings). Unfortunately, Bandai chooses to exploit these highly-popular items to move the less-hot products in their line-up, often forcing distributors to purchase assortments of other kits as a condition to buying MG items. This means that initial quantities of these kits are quite limited and patience is often required to get them.
