As an active player in promoting world trade, Dr. Malter held many prestigious and important positions in different international associations. From 1982 to 1988, he was Secretary, Vice Chairman and later Chairman of the Section on General Practice of the International Bar Association. From 1980 to 1984, he was Chairman of the SGP Real Property Committee. Between 1984 and 1988, he was Director & Legal adviser for All Asia Bar Association, and in 1983, he was the Chairman and President of Valley International Trade Association (California).

Interested in and fascinated with Chinese Culture, Dr. Malter, a long time ago, has foreseen that China would become and has now become one of the biggest markets in the world. In recent years, especially since Chinese economic reform began in 1979, Dr. Malter has become more and more involved in promoting China's International Trade.

When he was the Chairman of International Bar Association, SGP, he tried vigorously to help Chinese Bar Association (CACLA) to join the IBA. He was successful. At the present time, he is doing his best to help China to be the host for the biennial Meeting for International Bar Association.

In one of China's most important U.S. -- China joint venture power plant projects set up and construction, Dr. Malter was honorably invited to work as the lawyer for the Chinese side. Due to his expertise in international business law and many years of experience working with Chinese clients, he worked out an excellent contract to protect the best interests of his Chinese clients for this power plant project.
