Information Technology and Computer Support Specialist
The Program (1000 hours)
This program covers the theory and practical applications of computer hardware and software.

Graduates will be able to install and configure software, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and function as help desk support persons. They will become proficient or expert in popular business programs such as Microsoft Office 97, Windows 95, and Network applications and information technology as it relates to the Internet.

Students will work with Microsoft certified courseware, and at completion will be able to write the Microsoft Office User Specialist certification examinations. Many employers request this certification for Office 97 programs.

Students will learn about Internet hardware and software, will create web pages using standard web tools, and will be introduced to emerging technologies.

Teamwork, cooperative learning, communications, supervisory skills and technical writing skills will round out this program.

To solidify knowledge and skills learned in this program, students will complete informational sessions with local businesses as well as a 6 week job practicum. Assistance with job searching is also built into this certificate program.
